BRISTOL, Tenn--Healing Hands Health is closer to expanding its services in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, thanks to a significant donation from Eastman Credit Union.

The credit union announced a $100,000 contribution to the nonprofit's Building Health Inspiring Hope campaign, which aims to raise $3.5 million.

Healing Hands is currently renovating a 9,800-square-foot facility adjacent to their current center. The expansion is expected to enhance their capacity to provide integrated medical and behavioral health services under one roof, increasing treatment rooms from 8 to 15, office, and meeting & wrap-around service spaces from 6 to 16.

"Their gift helped us get to almost 90 percent of our 3.5 million dollar capital campaign goal," said Healing Hands Health executive director, Helen Scott.

The organization currently provides medical, dental, vision, and spiritual care, primarily to uninsured or underserved patients. The donation will specifically fund a Pharmacy Student Workspace, allowing students from the Appalachian College of Pharmacy to gain hands-on training.

"Those students will come in and learn through that program and work here," said ECU President and CEO Kelly Price, adding that the workspace will be named after Eastman Credit Union. "We believe in giving back, and sharing amongst the many organizations in our community, and Healing Hands is one of those very deserving organizations."

Healing Hands Health hopes this contribution will inspire others to support the campaign and help make the new facility a reality.

"We really appreciate ECU giving their gift, but they're also encouraging the community who can support us financially to make a gift too," said Scott.

Members of the public are encouraged to join ECU in supporting the cause. Donations can be made directly to Healing Hands Health Center by visiting the link HERE.
